How We Protect Students, In Practice

Policies matter, but practice matters more. These are the concrete rules every LIQ tutor and instructor agrees to — and what students and families can expect in every session.

Every tutor is verified before they meet a student

Identity check, academic credential review, background screening, and a teaching evaluation — no tutor is matched with a family before completing all four. Families may ask LIQ to confirm a tutor's identity at any time by calling +251 963 696 363.

The Tutor Code of Conduct

Every tutor and online instructor signs a Code of Conduct. Its core rules: treat every student with dignity and respect, with zero tolerance for physical punishment, humiliation, harassment, or discrimination. Keep sessions in open, visible spaces with a guardian present or nearby. Communicate with students only through approved channels. Never request photos, social media contact, gifts, or meetings outside scheduled sessions. Report any safeguarding concern about a student's wellbeing. Breaches lead to suspension or permanent removal from the platform and, where the law requires, referral to authorities.

In-home session protections

Home tutoring is LIQ's core service, so it carries the strongest protections: guardian-booked sessions, recorded attendance for every visit, the open-space rule, and an easy way for parents to raise concerns after any session through the platform or directly to our team.

Online class protections

Online video classes follow the same Code of Conduct. Schedules are visible to guardians, group communication stays in moderated channels, instructors never move conversations with minors to private platforms, and learning content is reviewed for age-appropriateness before publication.

What students should know

Your tutor is here to help you learn — nothing more. If a tutor or anyone connected to your learning ever makes you uncomfortable, asks you to keep secrets from your parents, contacts you privately, or behaves in a way that feels wrong: it is not your fault, and you should tell someone. Tell a parent or trusted adult, or use our anonymous reporting page. You will never be in trouble for reporting honestly.

What parents can expect from LIQ

Fast, serious handling of every concern by a designated Safeguarding Focal Person, transparent information about your tutor, full visibility of bookings and attendance in your dashboard, and a direct line to our team at +251 963 696 363. For practical safety tips, read the Parents' Safety Guide.
