How to prepare for the Grade 12 national exam in 3 months
Spend the first month closing gaps in each subject, the second month on past national exam papers by chapter, and the last month on full timed papers every week. Most students need about 2–3 focused hours a day.

1. Month one: close the gaps
Start with one past paper per subject, untimed. Mark every question you could not answer and group them by chapter. Those chapters are your plan for the next four weeks.
2. Month two: past papers by chapter
Work through past national exam questions one chapter at a time. Check each answer the same day and write down why you got it wrong.
| Week | Focus | Hours a day |
|---|---|---|
| Weeks 1–4 | Diagnose, then weak chapters | 2 hrs |
| Weeks 5–8 | Past questions by chapter | 2–3 hrs |
| Weeks 9–11 | One full timed paper a week | 3 hrs |
| Week 12 | Light revision and rest | 1–2 hrs |
3. Month three: full timed papers
Sit one full paper under exam conditions each week. Keep the rest of the week for the chapters where you still lose marks.
